We are happy to announce the agenda for the 2018 PLLIP Summit on July 14! The Summit committee has worked hard to design a day of programming that embraces our theme of Being The Change: The Power of Process. While many of the sessions and speakers have already been announced, we’d like to take the opportunity to share the flow of the agenda throughout the day.
Our Keynote speaker, Catherine Alman MacDonagh of Lean Six Sigma Institute, will start the Summit with a thought-provoking discussion on how Lean Six Sigma and project management can provide a framework when considering current and potential opportunities at your firm. Leaning into this initial inspiration, our morning will continue with Shaunna Mireau of Field Law showing attendees how to utilize the concepts of Lean Six Sigma to cross-pollinate library and management skills, increase the relevance of the library to the firm, and provide internal and external clients with efficient and effective service.
In the afternoon we will begin with a panel discussion of real examples from our peers implementing project management processes within their departments. PLLIP President Elaine Egan of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton will moderate the discussion of Katherine Lowry of BakerHostetler, Megan Von Behren of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP, Sandra Dunbar of Heyl, Royster, Voelker & Allen, P.C., as they delve into topics such as using a project budget, communicating with stakeholders, navigating issues that arise during the course of a project, and lessons learned. From there we’ll provide you with two workshop options: Legal Project Management and Process Improvement. Both deep dive sessions will include interactive demonstrations of specific processes that can be implemented post-conference.
Finally, a new addition to the agenda this year is a closing cocktail reception! We hope this will allow for all attendees to reconvene and network while discussing the day’s extensive programming.
Reminder: “early bird” registration for the AALL Meeting & Conference in Baltimore is available through June 1st! Most Summit attendees also go to the Annual Meeting, so if you haven’t registered yet, here’s your opportunity to save $100!
